The Stables

This spacious Grade II Listed barn was converted in the early 2000's as one of three independent period barns, originally part of Priors Court Estate. The Stables benefits from an elevated position on the edge of Checkley Woods with some fine views west over The Lugg Valley.

A very well presented, character home providing 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 3 reception rooms including a generous fitted kitchen/breakfast room. The building has been sympathetically converted to preserve it's character and many architectural features.

Split level accommodation provides a spacious sitting room on the ground floor with vaulted ceiling and an impressive fireplace with woodburning stove set in an attractive exposed stone wall, creating a wonderful focal point to this room. There is a guest en-suite bedroom and a second reception room (used as an study) and these south facing rooms all enjoy lots of natural light, enhanced by glazed doors opening to the private rear courtyard garden.

A generous family bathroom, with large storage/airing cupboard, is also located on the ground floor together with the utility/coat room.

The impressive kitchen/dining room with vaulted ceiling is located on the first floor to take full advantage of the elevated views. This open plan room provides a wonderful, flexible living area perfect for modern family living and entertaining. The fully equipped kitchen includes ample fitted units, an integrated electric oven and a Belfast sink.

There are 3 bedrooms to the first floor including the master bedroom with en-suite shower room, a spacious under floor storage area and patio doors to the rear garden.

The outside

Two generous garden areas and ample private parking form grounds of approximately 0.40 acres.

There is a sheltered and private, walled rear courtyard garden with paved terrace, providing a welcome sun trap.

The front lawned garden accommodates the formal entrance and has well-stocked flower beds, a small walled vegetable area (historically the "sheep pound"), garden shed and greenhouse. A mature beech hedge forms the boundary with the neighbouring barn conversion.

Mains electricity & water, private drainage to a communal treatment plant, oil fired central heating, wood burning stove.
